The History

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our website, come sit a spell & enjoy our portraits.  Seegmiller farm has been in business since 1993.  We take a great deal of pride in our family history.  In the late 1890's my great grandparents raised percheron horses and hounds near Worthington MO.  This continued to my grandparents in the 1940's near Queen City MO.  They had coon hounds and a few Rat Terriers sprinkled in for good measure.  My own parents raised Doberman in the 1970's and continued with Australian Shepherds in the 1990's.  I am a 4th generation dog breeder with many years experience.  I must thank my grandparents & parents for all the knowledge and advice through the years.  Without their guidance I would have been lost.

Our ranch raises Dorper sheep, black Angus cattle and AQHA horses.  Plus my little Terrier dogs to help with herding and moving cattle.  We believe in keeping this all in our family.  We involved our 2 daughters from an early age to learn about good animal husbandry.  Now as time has moved forward, we plan to teach our grandchildren about ranch life as well.

Beginning in 1993 we traveled the US to search for the larger more sturdy type of Rat Terriers.  We soon realized that they were incredibly hard to find.  Many miles and years later you can see the work we have done for our beloved Rat Terriers.  With almost 30 years gone by, we now have improved the breed by leaps and bounds.  So many generations and the future looks very bright.

In the AKC "American Kennel Club" we show our Rat Terriers & Australian Terrier in conformation and performance events.  I like to showcase a great dog, the ribbons and accolades are always secondary.  From the history of our first to the present day dogs we could not be prouder! So many years and generations but always improving the breed we love. Our dogs excel in hunting venues and we love to squirrel hunt. Our newest addition is the wonderful Australian Terrier.  A little person in a dog suit!! Aussies are wonderful companion animals, also great with children and love to hunt as well.

We hope you enjoy our site and come back often to visit.  I try to update with new portraits and such as time allows.
